Supernaturals - Razek Infected

Description

Concept art for a short story i wrote about the Supernaturals.
Creatures infected by a viral pathogen that rewrites DNA and turns any meat-eating creature into a monstrosity bent on consuming and spreading the disease.
As the pathogen (known as the Razek) was released on a private research compound in a secluded area of the Florida Swamps, a large variety of species were infected.
However, the released Razek strain only affects birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles.

Depicted:
-Strangler: Frog-based infected. Infection caused it to develop multiple eyes that give him a panoramic view of its surrounding enviroment. Tongue is extremely adhesive and poisonous, when it grabs a victim, the creature's real mouth appears: a fanged maw similar to that of lampreys.

-Shield: Snapper turtle-based infected. Infection caused it to grow, reaching the size of a large pig. The Shield's shell is incredibly tough, able to withstand grenade launcher fire. Infection gave it large claws that it uses to burrow on the ground, hiding so it resembles a large rock. Shields are slow on land, but incredibly fast in the water.

-Nidhogg: Crocodile-based infected. Nidhogg is incredibly resilient, strong and fast (and faster in the water). The creature's heavy armor is covered in spikes laced with the virus. A Nidhogg is roughly the size of a school bus.

-Panthera: Cat-based infected. These creature resemble skinless cats, with bone spikes protuding from their backs and razor-sharp claws. Their spiked tongues are prehensile and able to elongate over 12-inches, giving them and edge at chasing prey.

-Lizard: monitor-based infected. Almost the size of a Komodo Dragon, Lizards are fast predators that might seem slow at first, but are able to outrun a human. Their tails end in large, bony spikes, giving their tail whip attacks able to cut a fullgrown man in half.

-Gnawer: Rat-based infected. Rats were amongst the first creatures exposed to the virus, and as such, embraced it better. Their skinless bodies are covered in boils and pustules filled with a virus-laced pus; while their claws and razor-sharp incisors allow them to spred the virus too.
If killed, the Gnawer's body explodes, sending infected fluids flying everywhere.

-Diatryma: Eagle-based infected. The virus causes eagles and other types of raptors to turn into flightless, man-sized freaks resembling the extinct terror birds. Diatrymas are fast, agile and extremely strong.

-Stalker, Scimitar-type: One of two bat-based mutations. Scimitar-type Stalkers are small, flightless bats. Their wings have lost all their membrane, becoming claw-like elongated fingers. Scimitar-types are skinless, and are vulnerable to daylight.

-Stalker, Leech-type: The other bat-based mutation. Leeches are basically legless bats that remain flying all time, or rest by clinging to trees and rocky surfaces. A Leech's sight is heat-based, allowing the creature to see potential prey, and, after finding it, they swoop down in swarms, overpowering and sucking its blood.

-Viperus: Snake-based infected. Viperus retain their poisonous fangs, while gaining enough mass to become constrictors. A Viperus is covered in small thorn-like protusions, while their tongue has become some sort of 'extra' mouth. Viperus are blind, and hunt by feeling vibrations in the ground.

-Joker: Crow-based infected. Jokers resemble large crows with claws in their wings and a skinless head. While Jokers feed mostly on carrion and only attack in large numbers, their laugh-like calls can summon larger infected to attack potential prey.

-Skewer: Vulture-based infected. Skewers' wings have become membranous and similar to those of pterosaurs, while they have lost their eyesight and become sound-based hunters. Skeweres swoop down and attack prey by stabbing it with their needle-like tongue.

-Vrykolakas: Canine-based infected. Looking like skinless dogs, Vrykolakas (affectionately called 'Tindalos' by Supernaturals' main scientist, Eris Black) are fast and aggressive predators that move in packs. Vrykolakas hunt by coordinating complicate attacks by growling and howling, infection giving them enough intelligence as to have a primitive language. They're called Vrykolakas in honor of a mythical greek vampire that arises from a dead werewolf.
While larger breeds of Vrykolakas are incredibly huge (displayed by an infected mastiff), most of them are roughly the size of a doberman pinscher. Doctor Black suspected that wolves, jackals and foxes infected by the Razek might become Vrykolakas, while a hyena might turn into something worse.

It was fun to come up with the description.
And yes, the Vrykolakas being doberman-sized creatures is a homage to Resident Evil series.
